Vakhramova, O.G., Russian State Agrarian Univ., Moscow (Russian Federation)
The study was carried out on 3 groups of laying hens of cross Highseks White during age the interval 190 - 370 days which were fed by basal ration without (control group, CG) or with acid soluble chitosan with (the 1st group, 1G) or water soluble chitosan with (the 2d group, 2G) at a dose of 20 mg/kg of live weight. The safe keeping of poultry was higher in the experimental groups: 92.2% in 1G and 98.4% in 2G in compare to CG (91.1%) and the average rate of egg production during the whole period was 92.2% and 95.6% versus 91.4%, respectively. At the slaughter age of 370 days Pb content in liver and egg exceded the maximum permissible level by 10.5% and 43,3% respectively and the one of Cd in egg by 90%. The addition of acid soluble chitosan decreased Pb content in egg by 30.2% and Cd by 36.8% and in liver by 29.1% and 50%. respectively. Effect of water soluble chitosan was approximately the same, but the authors recommend the addition of acid soluble chitosan to ration for laying hens
