The objective of this experiment was to investigate the possible role of non-structural carbohydrates and minerals on the process of floral induction in grafted seedlings of four mango cultivars, viz., AbuSamaka, Mabroka, Dr.Night and Alphonso, following paclobutrazol (PBZ) application. For the non-structural carbohydrates, starch levels were not similarly affected by PBZ treatments as far as tested cultivars and season of experimentation are concerned. However, general trends of increase in sucrose and to a less extent in reducing sugars resulting from PBZ treatments were observed in most of the tested cultivars in both seasons. Generally, nitrogen content seemed to increase by PBZ treatment, while C: N ratio did not. Other mineral elements (P, K, Ca, Fe, Mg and Mn) did not show consistent trends of variations in response to PBZ treatment in cv. Abu Samaka and Dr.Night
