The effectiveness of biological plant protection of field crops against the insect pests

The experiments were conducted in the Volgograd Region. Barley seeds before sowing were treated with different microbiological fertilizers. In total, 8 kinds of these fertilizers were tested. The population of pest reduced thereby by 2.2-7.2%. The most effective were Rizoenterin, Klebsiella planticola and Flavobacterin. The phytophage density under their exposure reduced by 10.7-69.6; 11.6-72.0 and 4.0-44.7%, respectively. The efficiency of the chemical reference (Vincite, 1 kg/ton) was 40.0-78.3%. Rizoagrin appeared to be insufficiently effective. Production tests succeeded in reducing the damage of melon crops with terricolous phytophages by 11-13% due to applying Mizorin and Flavobacterin. Bacicol with consumption rate 1 and 2 kg/ha resuced pest damage sowings of spring grain crops by 75.1 and 91.4%, respectively. This was more effective by 10.4-19.5% than when treating with chemical Metafos (1.5 l/ha). High biological efficiency against flea beetles on brown mustard is provided with liquid Bacicol with spore titer 3 billion/g with consumption rate 10-15 l/ha and dry powder with spore titer 45 billion/g with consumption rate 1.5-4.0 l/ha. All preparations of Bacicol were effective against mustard leaf beetle Colaphlus hofti. As a dry powder (1.5-3.0 kg/ha) Bacicol was also effective against cabbage moth worms Plutella maculipennis. Bacicol did not influence negatively the population of entomophages in mustard agrocenosis
