In the intensive poultry production increased volume of water in the animal's excreta and in the litter represents big problem and can cause health problems for birds, such as blisters on the legs, breast burns, poor growth and consequently poor economic results. Many factors, including management, housing, diseases and nutrition, affect amount of water in the excreta and moisture in the litter. In the paper some nutritional effects which affect water intake, water excretion and the composition of excreta in broiler chickens, are summarized.
