A total of 168 pigs were included into the control group (C), whereas another 168 pigs were receiving Acidad Dry (R) (AD) during the entire duration of experiment. Until the 127th day of feeding there were no statistically significant differences between both investigated groups. However, the pigs from the AD group had significantly higher body mass than the pigs from C group (66.3 +/- 9.2: 62.7 +/- 9.1 kg, P = 0.001). The AD pigs had significantly higher body mass than C pigs (100.8 +/- 12.6 kg : 96.1 +/- 11.8 kg, P = 0.001). Between 90 kg and slaughter weight, the AD pigs kept the difference (4 kg), but not significant (120 +/- 13.5 kg : 117.0 +/- 12.8 kg, P = 0.050). When the pigs achieved 60 kg of body mass, the groups started showing first significant difference. The AD pigs had significantly higher daily gain in comparison to the C pigs (766 +/- 157 g/day: 712 +/- 150 g/day, P = 0.002). The difference occurred because the acidifier was removed from the fodder mixture given to the C pigs, whereas the AD pigs still received decreased dosages of Acidad Dry (R). The C pigs achieved better slaughter quality of the carcasses in the highest class S in comparison with AD, yet there were less carcasses in the classes E and U. The AD pigs had significantly more carcasses in the class R than the C pigs (3.5%: 0.0%, P = 0.025).
