In the period of 2003 - 2005 years the concept of Geo-referenced database of agricultural soils of Slovakia (GDPPS) was proposed and introduced as a logical frame for digitalization of data collected during the General survey of agricultural soils of Slovakia (KPP). Methodologies for both soil profile and soil mapping unit data digitalization were developed and tested. Digital data archive and system of supporting processing rules were created and introduced as a tool for managing the KPP data digitalization on the higher organizational level. In the article we made an attempt to make an overview on the KPP data used as inputs for digitalization; we also tried to point out the important aspects of the developed methodologies and to briefly describe content of the un-published methodological documents actually employed as a methodological base for the KPP data digitalization.
