The hydric soil function (included simultaneously retention and infiltration), ecology-stabilization soil function (included together buffer, transformational and cleaning up functions) and degradation-stabilization soil function (resistance to erosion, compaction) are evaluated from the bigger group of environmental soil functions. Assessment of soil function values come from soil characteristics data of database systems. Importance of the chemical, physical and other soil characteristics are evaluated. Potential values of the mentioned soil functions are expressed in one hundred points scale. It is done for three texturally different subtypes of Chernozem (modal, arenic, pellic) which parallel correspond to three Main Soil Units of the Czech Soil Evaluation System. Potential values of these soil functions are compared to well-known values of soil production function (soil production potential). Total soil quality is then possible to express by the average or the sum of point values of individual soil functions. Some chosen function can also be preferred by value coefficient. Financial evaluation of the land (soil price practical application) could then include also values of environmental functions, not only value of production potential.
