Effect of udder balm on somatic cell count in 76 sub-clinical mastitis lactating cows belonging to 18 dairy farms was studied. The cows were divided into 6 groups by random sampling. The variations were frequency of milking per day (2, 3 or 4 times) and treatment or without treatment with 2 udder balm applications in the morning and in the afternoon. The effect of treatment was demonstrated with the milk somatic cell count reaction by CMT solution (CMT scoring). The tests were performed at the beginning and day 5 of the experimental period. The results showed that 50-62.5 percent of cows with 3 or 4 times milking per day had decreased the amount of somatic cell count. By the way, more cows with 3 or 4 times milking per day together with the udder balm applications had lower somatic cell count reaction on day 5 of treatment. This show that not only 3-4 times milking a day could decrease somatic cell count in the milk of sub-clinical mastitis cows, but the combination of 3-4 times milking a day with 2 times administrations of udder balm also be able to decrease somatic cell count in the milk of sub-clinical mastitis cows at highly significant level. It would be conclude that the treatment of high somatic cell count in sub-clinical lactating cows using 3-4 times milking a day with 2 times administrations of udder balm was very effective.
