Assesment of the bottom deposit enrichment in Vajiralongkorn and Srinakarin reservoirs, Kanchanaburi Province were carried out by the field-survey in 15 stations from each reservoir during February 2006. Our objective was to preliminary analyze the potential of area on resource production in reservoir and clarify the source of organic matter in the sediment. Results from this study showed that almost stations in each reservoir had high level of total organic matter content (TOM, more than 10 percent) and the vertical changes in total organic matter was scarely found. Grain size which less than 63 micrometers did not influence to the level of TOM, but water content is showed positive relation with TOM . Level of acid volatile sulfides (AVS) were less than 0.02 mg/g dw. The overall results indicated that both reservoirs had medium to high enrichment status. Nevertheless we found somewhat specific source of TOM which should rather be aquatic plant detritus than dead phytoplankton. The results also implied the importance of ecology and morphology of the area. Such information are necessary for area development for sustainable fishery resource production further.
