Objective of this study was to determine the effect of water deficit on growth of bulrush. The experiment was carried out under field condition at Faculty of Agricultural Technology, King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, during April to August, 2008. A randomized complete block design with 3 replications was used. Treatments were water deficit at 30 days after planting (DAP) till harvest, water deficit for 30 days at 30, 60, 90, 120 DAP and non water deficit, respectively. The result shown that water deficit directly effected on growth and stem dry weight of bulrush. Water stress decreased relative water content, transpiration rate, total conductance but increased leaf temperature. For all of the water stress treatments, growth and stem dry weight yield were not affected by stress at late growth stages (at 120 DAP) but were reduced by stress periods imposed at early growth stage (at 30 DAP). However, in well-waterd plants, growth and stem dry weight yield were the highest.
