The aim of this study was to establish the effect of different levels of soil water content over the yield and energy feeding value of soya bean within the 2002-2004 period in the experimental field of the Agricultural Institute - Stara Zagora on the soil type leached smolnitsa. The experiment was done according to the block method in 4 replications and the size of the yield parcel was 11.2 m2. Use was made of the Pavlikeni 121 variety from the group of the average maturing varieties Bulgarian selection. The following variants were studied: 1No watering; 2 Watering at 80% soil moisture; 3 Watering every second furrow; 4 No watering at the phase beans formation; 5 Watering at 50% of the watering rate. It was established that the soil water content affected positively the content of crude fat and crude fiber and had negative effect over the crude protein. The strongest effect was found in the optimum watering variant, where it was with 14.8% higher for the fat and 5.6% for the crude fiber and 5.3% lower for the crude protein. A positive effect was found over the soya bean yield. The highest yield was obtained at optimum watering. The average increase in soya bean yield was 40.9%, in crude protein - 36.8%, gross energy - 41.7%, metabolisable energy - 42.6%, net energy - 43.2% compared to the nonirrigated control parcels. The beans feeding value for ruminants was on the average: gross energy - 15.48MJ/kg; KEM - 1.58; KEP - 1.73 per one kg dry matter. The watering did not affect significantly the feeding value of the soya been.
