The land of Gotse Delchev town is situated at 540 m altitude above sea level in the foot of the southern part of Pirin Mountain in the valley of the Mesta River and the southern part of the Rhodopi Mountain. These lands are generally considered less suitable for agricultural practices. Eutric and Dystric Fluvisols Fluvisols, 2006 here represent most of the land used for agriculture. There are also irrigation systems. Our study and evaluation demonstrates that many of these lands with their eluvial and deluvial genesis are quite suitable for growing corn under irrigation conditions. The land evaluation is conducted according to the Bulgarian evaluation system, but final results are equaled to the recommendations of the FAO.
