In order to establish the impact of irrigation on the content and distribution of mineral nitrogen in the soil profile, the content of humus in the layer 0-100 cm and the change of soil reaction a study was conducted in the experimental field of Agricultural Institute, Stara Zagora in the 2004-2006 period. The experimental was done with grain maize hybrid. During the vegetation period to the following was applied crop irrigation scheme: 1. no irrigation; 2. irrigation at 80% of the FMC for the layer of 0-100 cm; 3. furrow irrigation with M = 50%; 4. In furrow irrigation at 100% M; 5. Irrigation in each two furrows at M = 50% 6. Irrigation in each two furrows at M = 100%. By spectral analysis of soil samples soil reaction was established, was well as humus content and quantity of mineral nitrogen ammonium and nitrate in the horizon from 0 cm to 100 cm. The values reported show little impact of irrigation in the furrows. Humus content is relatively constant magnitude and was not affected by irrigation in each one and two irrigation furrows with different rates. In terms of natural water-supply nitrogen decreases with increasing the depth. Irrigated maize in the optimum content of mineral nitrogen increased with increasing depth of the soil layer.
