Ziggurats is a winter brewing barley variety, develoed by the method of intervariete hybridization at the Institute of Agriculture, Karnobat. The variety was registered as original by the Expert Commission of Cereals at the Executuve Agency for Variety Testing, Field Inspection and Seed Control during 2008. At the ecology stations of EAVTFISC it shows high productivity with relative yield of 11,8% over the mean standard Obzor, Emon, Kaskadyor 3. During the testing period the variety realized yield from 4800 to 7600 kg/ha. Zagorets has good brewing quality. The volume of extract is high - 79,1% and protein content is average - 11,2%. The new variety is suitable for being grown all over the country, if the technology for winter barley is observed.
