During two following cycles, the dynamic of vole pullulation was studied in 27 sites in the Cantons Neuchâtel and Jura by surveys of their activity in the autumn along definite tracts. The maximum of pullulation may differ on one specific site; nevertheless, two types of cycles of vole pullulation can be distinguished: either there is a long period of latence then the population grows rapidly for a short period, or the latence is brief then the population grows slowly for a longer period without reaching high peaks. Following landscape factors influence the type of cycle: high density of wood or of wooden pastures, intensity of pasture and density of moles. The first two factors slow down the increase of voles population and reduce the intensity of pullulation, while the third one accelerates the process. Soil characteristics seem to have less influence than agricultural use of grassland, except for the water-reserves. Summer depression in grass growth may reduce the pullulation of voles.
