La hormiga Tetramorium guineense (Mayr) fue capaz de controlar hasta en un 65 por ciento, aproximadamente, al picudo negro del plátano, cuando fue liberada en plantaciones con alta infestación de esta plaga. En plantaciones con baja infestación, el control alcanzado por la misma fue de 83,5 y 73,8 por ciento de la población total de picudos en el primero y segundo años, respectivamente. La liberación de la hormiga, para una colonización total del campo l campo en un periodo entre 3 y 4 meses, no debe ser menor del 25 al 30 por ciento de los plantones del mismo.

The ant Tetramorium guineense (Mayr) was capable of controlling up to 65 percent of the plantains' black weevil when released in plantations with high ifestation rate of this plague. In plantations with low rate of infestation, controls of 83,5 and 73,8 percent of the whole population of black weevil were obtained in the first and second years, respectively. For a complete colonization of the plantation in 3-4 months, ants should be released at least on 25-30 percent of the area.
