Twenty four Assaf lambs (15.0 +/- 0.27 kg) were used to study the effects of the inclusion of 5% of Urtica dioica in the concentrate on feed intake and digestibility and animal performance. Animals were allocated into two groups (Control and Urtica) and fed concentrate and barley straw ad libitum. From day 23 to 29 a digestibility trial was conducted using 4 lambs per group. Lambs were slaughtered when they reached 25 kg. Concentrate and dry matter intake tended to be greater for Urtica lambs (P<0.10). Dry matter, fibre and protein apparent digestibility, growth rate and feed to gain ratio did not change (P>0.10) among experimental groups. On the other hand, carcasses from lambs fed the Urtica concentrate were heavier (P<0.05), although killing-out percentage was not affected (P>0.10).
