The present work was intended to evaluate the response of the different levels of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) on subcutaneous adipose tissue and the composition of fatty acids in white pigs. Forty female pigs were used (Landrace x Large white).Four diets were formulated in order to contain four levels of CLA ( 0, 0.5, 1 and 2% CLA ). Subcutaneous fat from pigs feed with the diets that included CLA, contained significantly higer amounts of saturated fatty and lower amounts of monounsaturated fatty acids than adipose tissue from pigs feed with the diet that included 0% CLA (P<0.001). The addition of CLA in the diet affected the concentration of CLA in adipose tissue, we observed a higher increase of cis-9, trans-11 CLA than trans-10, cis-12 CLA.
