Thirty tomato cultivars and breeding lines were evaluated at Ibadan for disease resistance in 1975 and 1976. Several cultivars and lines possessed high level of resistance to fungus foliage and virus diseases. Le x 9-1-6 and Ibadan Local were most resistant to yellow patch virus disease and mosaic-streak. No cultivars showed resistance to bacterial wilt (Pseudomonas solanacearum) while they showed varying degrees of resistance to grey leaf spot (Stemphylium solani). The highest yields were obtained from cultivars with the greatest resistance to diseases. Le x 9-1-6 and Ibadan Local gave the highest yields.
