In a survey to find a suitable organism for the micro-biological control of mealybugs on cocoa, a fungus Cephalosporium sp. was isolated from a mealybug Planococcus citri. This fungus was pathogenic to Planococcoides njalensis in laboratory tests and when a mycelial suspension was sprayed in a pilot field trial, it induced an epizootic disease among the mealybug colonies
