Construction of irrigation and drainage networks is one of the basic methods to optimum usage of water resources in Iran and for this main, about 1.3 million hectare (3% of cultivable lands) have been equipped with modern irrigation and drainage networks. Ih this way, despite many potential in quantity development, studies express that more constructed networks have many problems and insufficiencies like destruction of concrete lining of canals, unsuitable operation of hydraulic structures, gathering of sediment in canal and low efficiency of networks. Mentioned problems may be related to study and design, geotechnical conditions of structures bed, operational and maintenance management. In this project, after recognition of problems in phases of desigh and performance of modern and old (acnals, ghanats, sprins and wells) irrigation networks and study of previous researches, the aims and preferences of research and performance, in many expert meetings, are determined. Based of the results, aims and preferences are determined in modern networks in three main phases of desigh, during performance and after performance, and in old networks in three different part of improvement, repaire and maintenance and operation. Based of determined aimes, extensive programs of research and performance are recognized and are sent to research and performance organizaions.
