phates are the most common used chemical pesticides in controlling stored products pest in stores. Since continuous application of these pesticides has led to resistance development in some species of stored products pests and environment pollution, introducing newer and safer compounds seems necessary. Spinosad is one of the newest alternates offered for this purpose. To evaluate the efficiency of this compound comparing to malathion, pirimiphos-methyl, and chlorpyriphos-methyl in controlling Tribolium confusum (Mashhad, Uroumieh, Varamin and Karaj population), Tribolium castaneum, and Sitophilus oryzae, the present study was carried out in two forms: 1.Assessing the effect of Spinosad SC240 in laboratory condition, 2.Mixing of Spinosad dust with wheat. The results of the first part showed that 96 hrs after using 1 g(a.i.)/m2 Spinosad SC240 dosage, mortality rate of the above mentioned pests were 98.3,100,100,100, 85, and 98.3%, respectively. Getting these results we can recommend applying Spinosad SC240 to control stored products pests as contact insecticide in empty silos and surfaces of stores. The second part showed that 8 weeks after mixing of 2 mg(a.i.)/kg Spinosad dust (0.125%) with wheat mortality of S. oryzae, T castaneum, and T. confusum (Karaj population) were 100, 86, and 97% respectively. Based on these results we conclude that Spinosad dust might be used to protect seeds against infestation in stores in warm months of year.
