In this research, the Geo-pedological approach applied in order to prepare the soil map of Chenar area. The study area covers 10143 ha and is located in Eslamabad-gharb regin of Kermanshah Province. Climate is humid and cold in winter and moderately hot and dry in summer. Soil temperature and moister regimes are Mesic and Xeric, respectively. Limestone, marl, and sandstone are the main lithological composition of the study area. Four landscapes, 5 reliefs, and 11 landforms separated and four-soil order including Entisols, Inceptisols, Mollisols, and Vertisols were distinguished on different landforms of the study area. Entisols, and Mollisols are dominant in the mountains and Vertisols are dominant in the piedmonts, too. Parent materials, topography, and vegetation are the main soil forming factors distinguished in the study region. Soil texture, mostly is clay or silty clay and the amount of lime content in the soil mineralogy control section ranges between 25 to 65%. In the piedmonts and on the slightly sloping land Carbonate, dissolves during leaching phenomena in the wet seasons and then precipitates as calcic horizons. More over, in these landscapes, clay content of the soil subsurface horizons increases with depth over 50%. Slickenside and clay films distinguished without any ambiguity. Mollisols formed in areas with high water retention capacity in the sloping lands with north-west aspects.
