In this project, almond breeding is carrying out using classic breeding (selection and crossing) methods, primarily. Project was started since 2003. The first sub-project as title "Investigation Almond Germplasm in Tehran, Qazvin and Zanjan provinces for selecting the superior genotypes" was done from 2003-2005 and 100 genotypes were identified, selected and propagated for evaluating. Results of this sub-project was reported in 2006. The next sub-project is as title "Investigation of collected genotypes almond for selection promising genotypes". In this sub-project,340 genotypes accompany with control cultivars (Sh-12 and Shekofeh) are evaluating using Augment design since 2004. Phase (I) Results of this sub-project was reported in 2008. .Another sub-project is as title "Hybridization of almond for development and selective the new hybrids of late flower and self compatible almonds". In this research ,in order to obtain new self compatible, superior and late flowering almond varieties with desirable pomological and vegetative characteristics, and suitable nut characteristics, using crossing late flowering almonds with self compatible (Genco ,Tuonu,Flipe Ceo and Supernova) varieties. Crossess has been carried out from 2004 to 2009. Phase (I) Results of this sub-project was reported in 2008. The next sub-project is as title "Investigation of Oil Content and of Major Fatty Acid Composition in selection promising genotypes of Almond. This research will be done since 2009. In next phases of project, aims and achievement to other items such as pomological characteristics has been considerated, and used the suitable methods whit them. The obtained results will be reported in next Phases of project.
