Study On The Most Suitable Method To Increase The Production Of Theileria Annulata Vaccine

In Cnnection with increasing demand for tissue culture vaccine of theileria annulata and difficulties to obtain the componenent of the culture medium for growing the strain of T. annulata it was decided to grow the schijant infected Lymphoid cells on different media such as Eagle, Stoker and RPM/, 1640 together with foetal bovine serum, new born calf serum, serum from 4 months old calves and also horse serum. The rate of increase in cell mumber and vaccine production were compared in the above mentiained media. The studies showed that the strain of T. annulata could grow well in stoker and RPM/, 1640 with foetal bovine serum, Yeast extract and Lactalbumine. As a result number of harvested dose of the vaccine will also be increasead. But as the foetal bovine serum is very expensive, at present, the stoker medium together with yeast extract, lactalbumine and horse serum is used for growing of schijant infected Lymphoid cells to produce the vaccine in Large scale.
