In this paper, the structure of EU15 food trade and its recent changes are analyzed with trade value data based on BEC (Broad Economic Category) classification. The trade intensity indices tend to be high when the paired countries are geographically close. The high trade intensities are quite often bilateral. The CMS (constant market share) analysis demonstrates that the growth of trade in this area is quite balanced among countries and the structure of trade is stable in that change in commodity share and country market share are stable. These facts are considered to be the trait of a mature regional market.
