2008
Ahmed, A.F.
Treatments included: T1 = hand weeding (full season), T2 = lnterculturing (2 times), T3 = Hand weeding + interculturing (once each), T4 = Interculturing + herbicide application (once each), T5 = Use of herbicide (once), T6 = Organic mulching (wheat bhoosa), T7 = Intercropping + weeding and T8 = Control (weedy check for full season). The results indicated that three types of weed species were recorded in competition with the experimental crop i.e. grass weeds, broadleaved weeds and sedges. Among grass weeds, Chhabbar (Cynodon dactylon), Sawari (Echinochloa colonum), Drubh (Desmostachya bipinnata), among broadleaved weeds Naro (Convolvulus arvensis) and among sedges, Kabah (Cyperus rotundus) were found infesting experimental Sunflower crop. The infestation percentage of Chhabbar, Sawari, Drubh, Naro and Kabah was 20.0, 15.0, 25.0, 20.0 and 10.0 percent, respectively. Drubh, Chabbar and Naro were shared the infestation percentage at maximal, followed by Sawari and Kabah.
