The experiments were conducted in the laboratory, Department of Plant Quarantine, Government of Pakistan, Karachi on "Effect of various heat treatments on the immature stages of Bactrocera cucurbitae and Bactrocera dorsalis in mango fruits". Both the species of fruit flies were reared under laboratory and fed with (i) Protein hydrolysate and sugar, (ii) Crystalized sugar and 01 part of Ay 65 (bear yeast) mixed with water. Chopped pieces of cucurbits (Indian squash, ridge gourd, pumpkin etc.) were provided to them for egg laying. The egg laid on the cucurbit pieces were then transferred to the artificial diet (Wheat brain + protein carbohydrates 125 g) Granulated sugar 50 g, Crude dry yeast 34 g, Hcl 3.5% protection from fungi 20ml, Sodium benzoate prevention of fermentation and decomposition, 0.75 g, Toilet paper maintaining of proper physical properties of medium 25 g and Water 0.65 ml) in aluminum trays (6x6x2") for larval development.
