Papilio demoleus L. (Lepidoptera: Papilionidae) the citrus butterfly, is an important cosmopolitan pest of citrus plantation. The caterpillars feed on leaves and prefer blossoms and young nurseries. A single larva consume nine complete leaves in the course of its development. Papilio demoleus is widely distributed in the plains and lower hills of the Indo-Pak subcontinent. It is reported that it can feed and breed on all varieties of cultivated and wild citrus of the Sub-continent.The present studies were aimed at to understand the aspects of bionomics of the pest in the rainfed regions of Pakistan. The studies including biological parameters such as (i) duration of life stages (ii) duration and number of generations (iii) mating behaviour, oviposition and fecundity rate and (iv) the effect of temperature on the growth and development of the various stages of the species.
