The objective of the performed investigations was to determine essential chemical properties and soil solution composition of the soils which occur in the region of the Wielkopolski National Park frequented by acid rains. Long-term research results of precipitation in this region confirm their acid character, normally pH lower 4.5 sometimes even below 3.5. Content of anions originated from acids comprised in the range: SO4(-2) 3.24-4.04, NO3(-) 1.57-2.57, Cl(-) 0.63-1.31 mg/cubic dm. Investigations included Arenosols developed from sands as well as Luvisols from loamy sands deposited on boulder loam. The results indicate distinctly lower pH of all horizons in the soil profiles occurring in the forest areas
