The objective of this work was analysis of water and retention capabilities of 13 hydrogenic soil profiles in the Grojecka Valley (Poland). The undisturbed soil samples were collected from selected genetic horizons. The samples were used to determine water capacities at the following pF values: 0.0, 1.6,2.0, 2.5, 3.7, 4.2, 4.5. On their basis, retention capabilities within easily plant available water (EPAQ), were defined. In the calculations of EPAW, a pF range of 1.6-3.7 was employed. Investigated soils showed high retention capabilities with an average between 282.99 mm and 425.52 mm
