The work presents research results discussing the state of basic physical and water properties in soils differing with regard to typology, texture and agricultural value, situated in the region which could in the future be affected by mining drainage. In the course of the performed investigations the following parameters were determined: the value of the filtration coefficient, water binding potential and retention. It was found that the examined soils represented a rainfall type of economy and, with considerable probability, they would not be subjected to drainage degradation
