Distribution of trace elements in soils under various forest stands in the Dobra River Valley [Poland]

Total concentrations of Zn, Cu and Pb in surface horizons and forest litter were determined under pine, oak and ash (alder stands growing on Arenosols, Cambisols and Fluvisols) Gleysols to analyse the distribution of trace elements in forest ecosystems in various alluvial deposits of Dobra River (Poland). Samples of mineral soils were collected at the depth 0-10 and 10-20 cm and forest litter samples on rectangular plots 20 x 20 cm. Zn content in soils is significantly correlated with clay content, lead - with organic carbon, while copper depends both on clay and organic carbon. The highest concentration of metals in the forest litter was found on acid sandy soils under oak stands
