The objective of this study has been to compare the usefulness of several reagents for extraction of phytoavailable forms of B, Cu, Mn, Zn and Fe from soil. For each element 3 extractans were compared, a specific one, DPTA and EDTA. Specific methods were different for each microelement: hot water for B, 0.43 mol HNO3/cubic dm for Cu, MgSO4 for Mn and 0.1 mol HCl/cubic dm for Zn. The material consisted of 156 samples of soil and plants growing on that soil. Extracted amounts of microelements from soil were compared within each group of samples along with the corresponding quatities of microelements taken up by plants. Such comparisons formed the basis for determining the usefulness of the reagents
