In this paper are presented research results on cooperative movement in transtion of agriculture and rural development in Serbia - with special emphasis on farmers cooperatives. At the same time, there is presented analysis of current state of cooperative sector in countries arisen on former SFRY territory, but also in other European countries, whose experiences can be pointer for reform of cooperative sector in Serbia.
