The research was conducted by means of a questionnaire, the random sampling method at the territory of Novi Sad (Serbia), where 174 respondents were included. The respondents were divided into four groups according to their level of education: the respondents who finished elementary school only (4 respondents), those with the high school diploma (57 respondents), with higher education diploma (12 respondents) and those holding university degrees (98 respondents). Based on the results obtained, it was possible to single out basic characteristics of consumers according to their level of education. Therefore, we arrive at the conclusion that with the increase in knowledge, education and the level of consumer awareness regarding the importance of the information provided on the food label, their attitude towards the aforementioned changes considerably.
