A study was conducted under the environmental conditions of Cacak (Serbia) to calculate the irrigation water balance in vertisol planted with apricots. At an average monthly temperature of 17.3 deg C during the growing season, effective rainfall of 322 mm, potential evapotranspiration (PET) of 587 mm and under continuous moisture supply at the soil water retention capacity level, net soil water deficit was estimated at 133 mm. The water surplus of 36 mm was observed in April and May. The irrigation scheme adopted involved four treatments conducted in June, July, August and September at a water application rate of 19 mm, 52 mm, 48 mm and 14 mm, respectively.
