The objective of this experiment was to evaluate the effects of heat treated corn grain and heat treated whole soybeans, in diet for calves 60-120 days old, on nutrient digestibility. Thrity-six weaned Holstein calves were used, there were three treatments using different concentrates, formulated asL concentrate with micronized corn grain and extruded while soybeans (KTT); concentrate with non-treated corn grain and soybean meal (KTN); concentrate with non-treated corn grain and extruded whole soybeans (KS). Four calves (2 male and 2 female) were used for digestibility investigation. In conclusion: Use heat treated corn grain and whole soybean grain in mixtures for weaned claves has a significant positive effects on digestibility of diet dry matter and organic matter, and also on NFE and crude protein digestibility. Favourable effects on glucose and urea concentration in blood serum of weaned calves were also determined. All these effects are distinct compared with the use of mixtures with non-treated corn and soybean meal, and also relative to concentrate with combination of non-treated corn and extruded whole soybeans. Inclusion of heat treated corn grain and whole soybeans into concentrate for weaned calves increases the nutritional value.
