[Breeding and productive resources of Hereford and Kazakh Whiteheaded cattle and their interaction for further improving]
2009
Dubovskova, M.P.
Elective and genetic estimation of Hereford cattle of different genotypes: Canadian, British, Siberian, Ural and local breeding, as well as pure bred Kazakh Whiteheaded cattle and its crosses with Maine-Anjou Simmental beef cattle. Estimated were growth, development, reproductivity, beef production indices in the Chelyabinsk and Orenburg Regions. The allele fond of different Hereford genotypes, occurrence of erythrocyte antigens and phenogroups have been studied. Stud bulls were estimated for the quality of offspring and a new procedure was proposed to estimate with reference to the body build and population selective progress level. It is shown that further development of beef cattle production in the South Urals should be based ob breeding tall-growing Ural Hereford-type cattle. Breeding should be performed by the complex selection variant providing increasing the body weight of youngsters by 2-8%, cows and stud bulls – by 3-6%. The profitability of growing crosses of new-type Hereford with Kazakh Whiteheaded is higher by 1.1-7% than in bull-calves with Ankatinskij and Zavolzhskij type and herdmates of local population of Kazakh Whiteheaded cattle
