The efficiency of visual transrectal ultrasonography (VTU) for diagnosis of ovarian masses in cows when normal and at pathology is shown. Monitoring of folliculogenesis, luteogenesis, and cystogenesis was carried out and the scheme of ckinical and ultrasonographic examination of cows for ovarian cysts which is recommended to start since transrectal palpation of ovaries was given. Double ultrasonographic examinations should be done with 4-11 days apart. Differential diagnosis of lutein and follicular ovarian cysts for the presence/absence of echo-producing wall lutein tissue is considered. The efficiency of ultrasound examination is shown for differential hormone therapy of cows with ovarian cysts. For treating follicular ovarian cysts preparations of gonadoremin, fertagil, cystorelin, surfagon, dirigestran and supergestran are used. For treating letein cysts preparations of enzaprost, dinoprost, lutaliz, buvilen, estrofan and others are used. It is concluded that visual transrectal ultrasonography is an effective method to control the state of ovaries and to estimate the efficiency of hormone therapy of ovarian cysts in cows
