The objectives of this study, were to estimate the available browse, and to establish its relationship with tree height, diameter at the base and the crown area, for Acacia tortilis subsp raddiana (Seyal) and Acacia mellifera (Kitir). Such information will contribute to better management of natural forests. The study was conducted in two forests in Butana area-central Sudan. Sungir (dominated by Acacia tortilis) and Wad bogul, which is dominated by Acacia mellifera. Clip and weight method was applied to estimate the available browse (total plant materials accepted that could be reached by animals) as dry matter (kg/ha). Regression analysis was used to establish relationships between available browse and growth parameters. A strong positive correlation between available browse and the growth parameters was found. The average available browse/tree for Acacia mellifera was higher than that for Acacia tortilis that makes the density as the main factor that determine the amount of available browse/ha. The results of this study may be used within forestry and range measurements and inventories, since they indicated levels and trends of utilization in natural forests, leading to better forest management standards
