Seventy samples of morning and evening cow milk from Holstein cows were taken to monitor the fat, proteins, casein and lactose content. The samples were analysed by MilkoScan FT 120 and statistically processed. There was a statistically significant difference between the morning and evening casein content (probability level p = 0.047), with a higher casein content in the evening samples than in the morning samples. Fat content and lactose content were also higher in evening samples than in morning samples for 68% of sample pairs. The test results were close to statistical significance (pfat = 0.065, plactose = 0.073). A strong correlation between protein and casein content was found for evening and morning milk (protein: r = 0.96, p less than 0.01, casein: r = 0.98, p less than 0.01).
