Causing mutation in the mulberry seeds and cutting by treating with colchicin for making up the primers
2009
Vu Van Ban;, Trinh Khac Quang
The results of the study showed that tetraploidy mutation in the mulberry seeds and cuttings can be caused by treating them with 0.2- 0.5% concentrated colchicin solution for 12- 24 hours. In which, the frequency of mutation is highest when treating the materials with 0.3-0.4 concentrated colchicin solution for 24 hours. The results of examination of the number of sets of chromosomes within the mutated organismes allow to identify two individuals evolved by tetraploidy mutation, which have many positive hereditary characteristics. The noteworthy distinctness of the mutated types is the elevation of fruits' yield, quality and seed as compared to the mother tree. These characters are important to using the mutated types as the primers for hybridization of mulberry varieties making up the triploidy mutation.
