Ex-situ target strength measurements of round scad decapterus maruadsi (temminck and schlegel 1843) in the marine waters of Viet Nam
2009
Nguyen Viet Nghia
Ex-situ target strength experiments of round scad Decapterus maruadsi in marine waters of Viet Nam was carried out in Cat Ba Bay. The ex-situ experiments were set up in 160 m3 measurement pen, using SIMRAD EK-60 split-beam echo-sounder. Total of 83 individual of fish were monitoed in four sets of experiments. The TS-to-length relationship of shrimp scad was determined as TS=20*LogL-61.3 (at 38 kHz); TS=20*LogL-67.1 (at 120 kHz) and TS=20* LogL-68.2 (at 200 kHz). In consideration of biological effect, the TS-to-length relationship can be revised as TS=20* LogL-61.3-13.1CF- 1.2LI-4GSI+0,9SBI (at 38 kHz); TS= 20*LogL-67.1-175.1CF-42.9LI+ 64.7GSI+13.1SBI (at 120 kHz) and TS= 20*LogL-68.2-92.2CF-32.6LI+33.6GSI+8.0SBI (at 200 kHz). The most influenced factor to the TS-to-length refation could be condition factor gonadosomatic index swimbladder index.
