Heterosis effect in semi-sugar beet hybrids | хетерозисен ефект в полузахарни хибриди цвекло
2011
Kikindonov, G., Agricultural Institute, Shumen (Bulgaria)
The economical qualities of sugar and fodder beet parental components and their semi-sugar beet hybrids have been tested during 2001-2008 in AI-Shumen. The variety of the parental characteristics and the differences in the agroclimatic conditions during the vegetation reflect in the degree of the heterosis manifestation in the semi-sugar beet hybrids. The triploid semi-sugar beet hybrids have the highest root yield heterosis values while the heterosis effect in the dry matter content is stronger for the diploid hybrids. All the tested semi-sugar beet hybrids have positive values of the heterosis effect in the dry matter yield from a unit of area towards the parents and the Standard. The triploid semi-sugar beet hybrids of the fodder beet pollinator SKR manifest the higher competitive heterosis effect, no matter the quantity of the vegetation rainfalls. With this they meet the requirements of the modern intensive growing technologies.
