Investigation of soil ferment activity allows researching biochemical components of soil formation, soil fertility and ecological situation evaluation. Regularities of profile distribution of four ferment systems (catalase, dehydrogenase, polyphenol oxidase and peroxidase) of rendzina (sod-calcareous) soils of north-western region of the Republic of Belarus are researched. Profile distribution of catalase and dehydrogenase along with polyphenol oxidase and peroxidase activity in sub-types of sod-carbonate soils is presented. The soils fall under the experiment are podzols, lixiviated and typical soils. Dependence of profile distribution of ferment activity of sod-carbonate soils on ecological and edaphic factors is evaluated; humus and clay content, environment reaction, humidity and biomass level is analyzed. Regression models of sod-calcareous soils' ferment activity dependence on biogenous elements content are displayed. Comparable models of sod-carbonate soils' ferment activity dependence on physical and chemical characteristics of soils are presented also. The research allows revealing the level of main oxidative processes activity and confirming multifunctional character of soil ferment potential formation.
