EVALUATION OF ACCEPTABILITY OF VELVET BEAN (Stizolobium deeringianum) AND ALBIZIA (Albizia lebbeck) IN BROILERS | EVALUACION DE LA ACEPTACION DEL FRIJOL MUCUNA (Stizolobium deeringianum) Y ALBIZIA (Albizia lebbeck) EN POLLOS DE ENGORDA

Se evaluó el efecto de la inclusión de la mucuna (Stizolobium deeringianum) y la semilla de albizia (Albizia lebbeck) crudos en dietas de 96 pollo machos de la línea comercial Hubbard de cinco semanas de edad, en el consumo a corto plazo (CCP, aceptación) del alimento. Se utilizaron tres dietas balanceadas con energía y proteínas similares con 0 y 28 % de de fríjol mucuna y albizia crudos respectivamente. Se evaluó el efecto de los tratamientos sobre el PCCP g/pollo/tiempo de muestreo a las: 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, 3, 4, 8 y 16 horas. con 16 repeticiones (dos pollos por jaula). En el primer día se midió el consumo de una dieta comercial, en el segundo día se probaron las dietas experimentales dentro de las cuales se utilizó como testigo una dieta sin los insumos a evaluar pero diferente a la dieta comercial y en el tercer día se midió el consumo de la misma dieta comercial, para conocer la respuesta compensatoria a las dietas experimentales. En el día uno la aceptación fue similar (P0.01). En el día dos el tratamiento testigo determinó un consumo acumulado de 7, 9, 10, 12, 16, 19, 32 y 57 g/pollo. El consumo en tratamiento con mucuna fue de 3, 5, 5, 7, 9, 12, 23 y 43 g/pollo y con albizia de 2, 2, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, y 3 g/pollo respectivamente entre 1 y 16 horas. El consumo de alimento de la dieta conteniendo mucuna y albizia fue menor (P0.01) que el del testigo desde la primera media hora hasta las 16 horas. De estos resultados se puede concluir que la inclusión de la mucuna y la albizia reducen la aceptación del alimento por parte de las aves. Sin embargo, en el caso de la albizia la reducción fue mayor.

The effect of inclusion of raw velvet bean (Stizolobium deeringianum) and albizia seeds (Albizia lebbeck) in diets for 96 Hubbard male chickens of five weeks old was evaluated by the short-term feed consumption (acceptability) test. Three balanced diets with similar energy and protein content were used where the control diet was partially substituted (28%) by either raw velvet bean or albizia seeds. Acceptability was described in terms of g/bird per sampling time at 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, 3, 4, 8 and 16 hours by 16 replication per treatment (two chickens per cage). Feed consumption was examined in the first day for the control diet, then for the control diet partially substituted by velvet bean and albizia seeds in the second day, then for a diet similar to the first day-control diet in the third day, in order to know the compensatory response to the experimental diets. Acceptability was similar (P0.01) in day 1 for all birds allocated in the three treatments. In day 2, the control diet determined an accumulated feed intake of 7, 9, 10, 12, 16, 19, 32 and 57 g/bird. Feed intake in the diet containing velvet bean was 3, 5, 5, 7. 9. 12. 23 and 43 g/bird and 2, 2, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3 and 3 g/bird for albizia seeds respectively between 1 and 16 hours. Feed intake in diets containing velvet bean or albizia seeds was significantly (P0.01) lower than that of the control diet from 0.5 to 16 hours. From these results, it can be concluded that the inclusion of velvet bean or albizia seeds in the diet decreases feed acceptability by the bird, with a higher reduction in feed intake of albizia seeds as compared to velvet bean.
