The Afghan province Logar is one of the heavily war-impacted provinces. Our article summarizes findings on the current conditions and options for future sustainable agricultural development of the province. Eighty per cent of the population depends on agriculture or services related to agriculture. The main problems of the rural population are as follows: lack of agricultural education, failures of irrigation systems and poor linkage of farmers towards markets. Lack of the support from local authorities prevents investments into agricultural activities and consequently reduces the interest of traders to connect the province to the national market.
