The list of recommended sugar beet varieties in the Czech Republic for the year 2011

The list is published yearly by the Central Institute for Supervising and Testing in Agriculture commissioned by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic. Those who take part in the testing are Sugar Beet Growers Associations, sugar companies and seed firms. The testing replaces the former system of United testing of registered sugar beet varieties (existing since 1993). Leaf diseases, yield, sugar content, sugar yield etc. are evaluated. The INDEX is the overall indicator expressing parameters of a variety to the average of all tested assortment on a relative scale. Thirty-nine varieties entered the list of recommended sugar beet varieties in the year 2010. The number of varieties with special tolerance to rhizoctonia and nematodes increased. Therefore, the varieties of the same tolerance were evaluated independently. Not only the 2010 results, but also the two- and three-year long variety evaluation results are listed. Both qualitative and quantitative indicators have remained at roughly the same level as the previous year.
