The goodness-of-fit of three different parameterization for the analysis of lambing interval was studied on field data from six Ripollesa flocks. More specifically, the mixed linear animal model, skewed mixed linear animal model and piecewise Weibull proportional hazard model were compared by the DIC statistic. All flocks revealed the same pattern where the mixed linear animal model was clearly discarded and also the skewed mixed linear model suffered important penalties. Within this context, piecewise Weibull models were revealed as the best parameterization; DICs were more than 3,000 units smaller when compared with estimates from linear models. The different flocks differed in the number of cut points for the piecewise Weibull function, they ranging between 2 and 6.
